Over the last one hundred years, humans have been altering the earth at an unprecedented scale. So much so that humans have become the single most prevalent force that affects the world as a whole; evidence of humans living here will far outlive our species. This period of time has been named “The Anthropocene” by scientists, marking the impact of human activity as a defining geological period.

We, as people and inhabitants of the Earth, have two options regarding the Anthropocene: either we continue what we are doing and technologically remake the world, tightening our grip and committing to what we have done, or we can change our behaviour rather than modifying our environment, letting go of our past.

Through a series of photographic images, I explore my landscape to convey what the world might look like depending on our chosen path. My goal is to open your eyes to this problem, letting you see our situation and how we may challenge it, allowing you to choose the path that you think fits best.

I ask you, will you tighten your grip or let go?
